# Tokenomics

The Cornerstone of This Economy Are Services Players Really Want and Need, Paid in Upliftium

Upliftium is the in-game ‘currency’ for The Uplift. The DAO doesn’t hold Upliftium, instead it is burned in taxes on player-to-player transactions, and for services such as picture and portal installations. People can ‘crystallize' Upliftium into a NFT, as well as ‘melt’ that NFT back into Upliftium.

Since release, there have been several third party tools on the WAX chain for Upliftium.
